5 Ways to Style Spanx Leggings

October 2, 2020 Leave a Comment

How I Style Spanx Faux Leather Leggings

1.) Seasonal Graphic Tee + Flannel and Sneakers

This look is perfect for any fall event- going to a pumpkin patch, apple picking, or just dinner with family.

2.) Waffle Knit Top + Denim jacket

Super cute, casual look perfect for a day of running errands.

3.) Oversized cardigan and booties

This look is seriously one of my favorites! Spanx style perfectly with any cardigan and booties for a night on the town.

4.) Sweatshirt and tennies

This is what I call comfy but cute!

5.) Sweater and Boots

Dress them up with a cute sweater and boots (also pair super cute with OTK boots)!

As you can see, these leggings are so versatile! They can be dressed up or down, and make any outfit! They are my go to all fall and winter! They may be a splurge, but trust me, you will definitely get your wear out of them!

Sizing reference: I am 5’3″ and am wearing the petite small. I highly recommend the petite sizing if you’re 5′ 4″ or shorter.

Here is a similar option for under $40 if you aren’t ready to go all in just yet!

Let me know which is your favorite look!

My top 5 favorite beauty products!

July 29, 2020 Leave a Comment

My Top 5 Favorite Beauty Products!

  1. Esteè Lauder Double Wear Foundation
    • If you read my makeup routine, you know how much I love and rave about this foundation. I came across this foundation in high school and to be honest, I have not worn a foundation since that even comes close to comparing to it!! Trust me when I say, it is full coverage, but definitely build-able to get the coverage you want, and it does not move all day long! My shades are Fresco (winter), Pebble (summer), Shell Beige (summer + spray tan)
  2. Shape Tape Concealer
    • I just recently started using the shape tape concealer, but I am definitely loving it! It’s perfect to cover up any blemishes I have, layer over my foundation to brighten my eyes, or just wear by itself on days I don’t want a full face on! I am currently using shade: Light 20B
    • **Currently on sale for 30% off with code Besties!
  3. Hello Body COCO Melt Makeup Remover Balm
    • I have always struggled to get all of my makeup off, and especially after I started using the double wear foundation because like I said, it doesn’t budge!! But let me tell you, this stuff is like magic! It literally melts the makeup away as soon as you start applying it! It removes more of my makeup than any other makeup remover wipe I have tried.
  4. Jergen’s Self Tanner
    • I am usually a spray tan kind of girl, but ya know because of covid, I have had to find other ways to get a sun-kissed look. I also did not want to pay a lot of money for a product I may or may not love, so this was the perfect solution! I found this gem on Amazon Prime for about $15 and thought why not try it, and let me tell you, I could not be happier with the results! Like I said, I have never applied a self tanner, so I was weary about how it would look! This one was very easy to apply! I just used a mitt (also from amazon) and the results were great! I also love the color of this product! I have used both the light bronze and dark! The color lasts almost a week before I exfoliate and reapply! 🙂
  5. Tula Rose Glow Eye Balm
    • This product is literally genius! The cooling effect and glow of it brightens darks circles and makes you feel awake with the touch of caffeine! I love using this on day 3 in a row of my 12 hour shifts to help me get going in the morning! It’s also great for a mid day pick me up. It layers perfectly under makeup or over, but it also great to wear alone for makeup free days!

Staycation 2020

May 22, 2020 Leave a Comment

Anybody else’s vacay plans been ruined by Covid-19? Hyle and I were so excited to celebrate our 1 year anniversary in one of our favorite places- 30A! Sadly, the rental ban in FL was still in place, and we had to cancel our original trip.

I was still off work for the week, so Hyle decided we were going to go on and stay in a hotel until rentals opened back up. Because he just knew it was going to happen sometime this week (he may or may not have joined a 30A facebook group to keep up with all of the details! He doesn’t mess around when it comes the beach!) So yet again, we were excited for a beach trip! We packed bags Sunday night, loaded the truck,  and planned to leave around 3 on Monday morning to be able to get a full beach day on our anniversary! My alarm went off 2:30 that morning, and I could just hear the rain pouring down outside! I checked the weather and sure enough we were going to be driving all day in the rain plus it was going to be raining in Florida too … ALL week long. I woke Hyle up and told him I didn’t think it was a good idea for us to go 🙁

It’s funny how God works sometimes because yes it did rain all week in Florida and come to find out, Hyle’s dad’s truck almost caught on fire a day after we had returned it when the air conditioner went out and a belt almost burned! (We always drive it because it is easier to haul our bikes!) That would have been AWFUL to deal with going down the interstate!!!

So our anniversary vacation quickly turned into an anniversary staycation!

I was still determined to make this week fun and memorable!

As many of you know, Monday was our 1 year anniversary, so we grabbed lunch and headed to Welch’s Point- an overlook that we actually had some of our engagement pics taken at almost 2 years before! It was so nice to catch a break in the rain and enjoy some much needed sunshine!

We spent the rest of the day re-watching our wedding video, looking back at pictures from throughout the year, playing around in my wedding dress, and enjoying a fancy candle-lit dinner- Cheddar’s takeout 🙂

This book was the sweetest way to keep some of our favorite memories from our first year together! Shutterfly offers a FREE 6×6 softcover photo book a month only in the app!

We spent the rest of the week once again chasing the sunshine! We tried to be outside any opportunity we could and any time it wasn’t raining! We managed to go to all three state parks here in White Co.!

I think it’s crazy, but I love how many beautiful views our small town has to offer!

I also made another DIY bleach dyed sweatshirt! This is one of my favorite things to do lately because it’s just so easy! Mix a little bleach water in a bottle, spray it on your sweatshirt, and ta da! It makes it look brand new!

We played cards, made milkshakes, and watched some of our favorite movies- 50 First Dates and The Blind Side – this was actually the first movie we saw together in theater too! 🙂

It’s supposed to rain all day today, so we are about to make some chicken and waffles (Hyle’s favorite) and then will probably curl up on the couch for a movie marathon! Although, I really should work on unpacking all of our bags… that went nowhere lol! Let me just say, I have always hated unpacking suitcases, but it is definitely worse when they didn’t even leave the driveway!

Buttttt, a rainy day inside makes for a great day of online shopping, am I right?? 😉  I have found some awesome deals for you guys!

This is what I have already snagged this week!

Everything in my closet is going to be tie dye!

I have been looking for the perfect denim shorts! These are on sale for $25!

These are so cute and on sale for 60% off making them only $30!

But, I will also probably be shopping these sales too 🙂

I know this is a strange time for us all right now, but I pray you are making the most of it with those around you 🙂 If you have any fun staycation ideas, comment below!

xoxo,

Shelby

Wedding Planning Recap!

May 19, 2020 Leave a Comment

Planning a wedding can be super stressful. I, however, thought it was so fun!! I am going to share a few fun things about our wedding and the planning process to celebrate our one year anniversary! WOW! I cannot believe it has already been one whole year.

Planning a wedding looks different for every couple, but again I just wanted to share some of our story! Hyle and I had been together 9 years before we got engaged, so we (or I) had been thinking about our wedding day for awhile! We knew we wanted to get married as soon as I graduated college! With all of that being said, I feel like our process was a little jump started!

Hyle proposed the summer of ’18 (the summer before my senior year!) at the beach — one of our favorite places to be! (Here’s more of that story if you want to check it out!) That night we had a date picked out and within a week we had our venue booked! Again, I had been doing my research on potential venues before we got engaged! I shared some of my tips on finding the perfect venue on my sweet friend’s instagram @wedwellwithjacee. I fell in love with my venue – The White Dove Barn- and knew it was the one. It was actually the only one I visited in person. If you know me, you know I am terrible with decisions, so this was HUGE for me to be able to make this decision on the spot like that!! (My decision on my wedding dress was sadly not this easy!)

Selecting vendors came next!

Thankfully, I knew who I would be using for my photographer– it was a close friend that Hyle and I had used for any pictures we had ever had taken. Laney is amazing- check out her instagram!

I also researched videographers, DJs, florists, caterers, and began looking into wedding stationery!

For our videographer, we chose Max Bernard Videos.  (Watch our full video here!)

We chose 5 Diamond Productions for our DJ. They were great to work with, did our ceremony and reception music, and even provided a photo booth- which was so fun!

I also chose a close friend to help with all of our flowers and another family friend to cater! I highly recommend this if you know someone because it helps save so much money especially if you are on a tight budget!

I created my Save the Dates and shower invitations through Shutterfly! For my actual invitations, I had a friend create what we wanted and then had them printed at a local print shop! Again, this saved so much money!

Hair and Makeup: When finalizing your decision on who to use for your hair and makeup, don’t be afraid to do a few trial runs with different people to see who fits your style and the look you want best! This day is about you! I personally used Hannah-Rose for my hair and and Shea Cravens for make-up! They both did a phenomenal job and I highly recommend them!

Bridesmaid’s Dresses

I spent quite a bit of time researching bridesmaid dresses. I debated whether I wanted all of my girls to wear the same dress or same color just different styles. I ultimately chose the same dress for all of my girls and loved this look! I used Kleinfield Bridal Party. Ordering online made me nervous, but I had a great experience!

Tips:

  • Stay organized  (You  can  also  check  Pintrest  for  free  printable  organizers!)
  • Stay ahead (trust me, it’s never too early to start thinking about something!)
  • Do your best to remain calm 🙂

This was a very quick overview of my wedding planning process and vendors I used! If you have any specific questions about anything, please feel free to contact me, leave a comment below, or check into Wedwellwithjacee every Monday and Friday for more tips on wedding planning!

xoxo,

Shelby

MAY 18, 2019- Wedding Day Recap

May 18, 2020 Leave a Comment

5 Questions I’ve been asked about our wedding day:

  1. Did we have a videographer?
    • YES! I highly recommend using a videographer! It captures so much of your day that you may otherwise forget years down the road. It is so sweet to be able to hear people’s voices from that day, see the interactions of your guests, and just to be able to physically watch your day unfold year after year! I would say this is an investment I would encourage you take if you are able!
  2. Did we do a first look?
    • Hyle and I chose not to do a first look. We both wanted to stay traditional and have that “first look” when I was coming down the aisle! However, I believe there are so many benefits of doing a first look prior to the ceremony! This is a personal choice you and your groom must decide on 🙂
  3. Did I do bridal portraits prior to the wedding?
    • I did not have any bridal portraits done before my wedding day. However, I wish this is something I would have done. It would have saved time the day of the wedding. Let’s be honest, you can plan time for this, but things often get crunched and you may not have as much time as you would like for “bridal portraits” on your big day. PLUS this is a great opportunity to have your trial makeup + hair and see how everything photographs before your wedding.
  4. Did I have a wedding planner?
    • During the planning process, I did not have a wedding planner. My venue had a day of coordinator they offered,  and I would say this was super helpful. Even if you do not hire a “day of coordinator,”  I highly recommend having a specific person (maybe a family member) to meet vendors as they arrive, finalize any payments to them, and to just keep everyone on schedule!
  5. Did we write personal vows?
    • No, Hyle and I both decided to not do personal vows during our ceremony. We did, however, choose to write a letter to each other and read those the morning of our wedding. This was just as sweet and sentimental for us and did not add the extra stress/ anxiety of having to read personal vows during the ceremony. Again, this is something that is definitely a personal choice for the bride and groom to make!

OUR WEDDING DAY

Thinking back on our wedding day, so many sweet memories come to mind. It’s hard to believe you can have so many memories and emotions just from one, single day!

I woke up that morning around 5 am (so much for getting my beauty sleep, right haha!) It was so peaceful and calming to be the first one up and to watch the sunrise! The Airbnb we stayed at had the most beautiful views!

         How amazing is our God?

I came back inside, started the coffee for all the girls, and sat down to spend a couple minutes in prayer and to just thank God for the wonderful life He had blessed me with and how awesome it was He allowed Hyle and I to meet and be joined as husband and wife on this day.

My mom was the next one up. We grabbed our coffee and set out on the porch and just spent the next few minutes talking about how excited we were for the day! As each of my sweet bridesmaids came out to join us, my excitement continued to grow because of their words of encouragement and the true joy they also had for Hyle and I.

I cannot express how thankful I am for my mom and these girls who were there beside me not just on this day, but for the whole process!! Again, God has truly blessed me with the most wonderful people in my life!

The morning started off slow, but it quickly became time to pack up and head to the barn to start getting ready! We were on a very tight schedule, and everyone knew we had to stick to it 🙂

We arrived at the barn and jumped straight into hair and makeup! As the girls were getting ready, I began writing my note to Hyle that he would read later in the day – how could words even begin to describe how excited and happy I was for that day?? I did my best to let him know this and that this was going to be THE BEST DAY EVER!

These letters Hyle and I wrote to each other that morning were so sweet and personal and something I will cherish forever! It may have been a bad idea to read this AFTER my makeup was done!

…

We then began playing the game of – “Shelby’s coming out for pictures, where is Hyle?? Make sure he stays in the grooms suite!!” (Like mentioned earlier, we chose not to have a first look and wanted to make sure this was the case!)

Pictures were so much fun- I attempted to pop some champagne, but with my lack of experience, that was a sight to see for sure 🙂

The boys were doing their best to have some fun too and keep Hyle calm! We could hear duck calls all over the venue!

They say something you didn’t plan for will always happen on your wedding day and to just go with the flow!

My bridesmaids may disagree, but I truly feel like my day was absolutely perfect. There may have been just a few small hiccups like how we were going to get the sheet to stay up (it was extremely windy!), how it would be opened, and how I was going to get to the back of the aisle without being seen!

This is the “infamous sheet!” It all stemmed from me wanting to have this dramatic entrance with the curtain being pulled back and Hyle and I seeing each other for the first time! In the end, it all worked out just as I had planned!

As we got closer and closer to the ceremony time, the more excited I got. I can’t tell you how many times I got asked, “Are you nervous?” Surprisingly, I did not feel nervous at all, and this is not like me! Hyle is normally the calm one, but personalities were definitely reversed! I kept hearing from the girls about how nervous he seemed. Poor guy had hardly eaten anything all day!

…

Trust me when I say, the day will fly by! Before I knew it, it was time to get married!!!

The girls and I said a prayer, and then we headed out of the barn to get ready for the moment we had been preparing for all day!

I was driven around to the back of the aisle (again, in hopes of not being seen and it worked!!). As I sat in the truck for a few brief moments by myself, I felt the slightest bit of nerves! I would more so call them butterflies! My excitement quickly took over once again because it was finally time to see MY GROOM!

The ceremony, like everything else, was nothing short of perfect! We exchanged I Do’s and I Love You’s and happily came back down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Robbins!! The following moments were so surreal.

   WE. WERE. MARRIED!!

As if the day had not been beyond perfect already, the reception was SO much fun!!

We danced, took pictures, ate cake, and celebrated surrounded by the best friends and family!

And they lived happily ever after!!

I wrote this post to share with each of you, but also in hopes that I will never forget each precious moment of this day! Thank you for reading! Let me know if you have any questions!!
